Me: No, it's not. By intentionally omitting information from a speech like that, he's lying. Therefore, it's not true. It's an attempt to demonize the people that he's worked to layoff. It's an attempt to demonize the people who pay other taxes, or don't make enough money to pay federal income taxes. His speech is incomplete and based on that alone, it's not true. Lying by omission is still lying because the intent is still to deceive.
About three-fifths of the 47 percent are working and making less than $20,000 a year. However, they still pay payroll taxes (Social Security, Medicare, unemployment) and spend an average of 12.3 percent of their incomes on state and local taxes.
According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, the 47 percent figure is an anomaly that reflects “the unique circumstances of the past few years, when the economic downturn greatly swelled the number of Americans with low incomes.” In other words, the past few years have left more Americans too poor to pay taxes. That, combined with the tax policies mentioned above, has led to a greater share of Americans who do not owe any income taxes.
So basically, assholes like Romney who ship jobs overseas, Wall St and big financial institutions have created a problem so huge, it put a swelling number of people in the literal poor-house. And now that you’re there, this is the bully standing over you giving you a metaphorical kick in the face while you’re down.
And people actually align themselves with this fucking scumbag?
Voting For The Greater of Two Evils
Stop voting for the lesser of two evils. Ever notice how that never works out? Since you’re presented with a false choice and no matter who you choose, you’ll be choosing the wrong one. Instead, vote for the greater of two evils.
If you do this, you will be making greater change. You will be helping make conditions so intolerable, that it ushers in a revolution.
Or… you can have a slow suffering that incrementally leads you down the path of tyranny. Either way, it’s going to crash. It’s all a matter of controlling the collision at this point, and how much collateral damage you rack up in the process.
