I crossed that line out because police don’t deserve our respect. We deserve theirs. The other way around creates this prison-inmate scenario where it’s us vs them - just like we have now.

Obviously most police are acting as obedient agents of the state, working most of the time as revenue generating extortionists who long for some action.

Police don’t deserve respect simply because of what our job entails, but it is a two way street.

If you don’t show any respect, you won’t get any respect. It’s just how the world is. I guess if you want to be biblical you would say “treat others how you want to be treated”.

But, I do agree that this is absolutely inappropriate and deserves to be called negligence, if I’ve ever heard of it.

I disagree. I think some things deserve respect just for existing. We The People deserve respect because we’ve already earned it. My parents deserve respect (even if they’re behaving badly) because they’re my parents. My wife deserves the same thing. The police should show respect because they took an oath to do that. Because we are The People. It is their duty to show respect. Instead, it’s become the other way around. This “show respect to get respect” thing is exactly the type of revolving door that got us into this mess. To hell with that. Police Officers are PUBLIC SERVANTS. You don’t kowtow and call your servant “sir” or “officer”. So why would you do that for police?

Remember, they are not your friend. Congress ruled that “police are under no legal obligation to protect you from harm”. They are simply a group of state sanctioned functionaries who have agreed to set aside their morals and opinions and instead work as obedient agents of the state, generating revenue by legal extortion.

If you disagree, please tell me where that $150 goes when you run a red light and get caught.
